PartnerWorld Console: Empowering Partners Through Better UX

IBM PartnerWorld was designed to empower Business Partners with resources, support, and incentives needed to succeed in the cloud era. As the main way-finding tool for partners navigating the program's different pillars, the Console needed to evolve from a fragmented experience into an intuitive dashboard that accelerated partners' journey from information to action.

Problem statement

IBM PartnerWorld members are facing a fragmented and confusing console experience when trying to understand their current program status and identify next steps for growth, which is impacting their ability to focus on building their business and achieving success within the partnership program.

Research

To understand Partners’, we regularly dived into user research and and quantitative data provided by IBM. We conducted design thinking workshops with stakeholders and SMEs, and studied how users interacted through click data, heatmaps, and session recordings.

On top of that, we analyzed competitors and checked out the best usability practices for partner programs and relevant websites. We worked closely with the development team to better understand IBM’s infrastructure and found smart ways to improve the UX for PartnerWorld members.

Design Strategy

Our approach focused on three core principles:

Clarity over complexity through redesigned data visualizations that provided at-a-glance understanding of progress and status

Guidance over guesswork by introducing clear pathways and next steps that eliminated decision paralysis and decreased abandonment risk

Consistency over confusion through implementing IBM Carbon design system throughout for a cohesive, professional experience.
